Hachiko: A Dog's Story [2009]

Most people (except me) have probably watched the original movie in 1987 Hachiko Monogatari. Now, Hollywood has made a remake of it starring Richard Gere. It's still 'coming soon' on my country and I don't know the precise release date, so I watched the trailer on Youtube.

No offence, Hollywood usually makes crappy remakes, some of them managed to pull through, but most just lack emotional depth from the original movie, or if it's a horror movie, it lacks... well, fear. Very fortunately, I don't think that is the case with this one. I CRIED.

Not because it sucked on so many different level, it's because the story was so touching, so tragic, so sincere... I copied this plot summary from IMDb:

An American adaptation of a Japanese tale about a loyal dog named Hachiko. This very special friend would accompany his master to the train station every day and return each afternoon to greet him after work. Sadly his master departs one day, passes away and never returns to the station. Hachiko faithfully returns to the same spot at the station the very next day, and every day for the next nine years to wait for his beloved master. During his daily visits, Hachiko touches the lives of many who work near and commute through the town square. He teaches the local people love, compassion and above all unyielding loyalty. Today, a bronze statue of Hachiko sits in his waiting spot outside the Shibuya station in Japan as a permanent reminder of his devotion and love.

I rarely cried on a movie, well I'm not really sure what could push my buttons, I cried during Titanic, Click, The Bucket List, The Lake House. But I didn't cry on Seven Pounds, My Girl, City of Angels. And I never, I repeat, never.. cried at a trailer. And the fact that it is a true story made it even more of a tearjerker, I'm definitely going to see this movie !!! I'll bring the whole family, so they can all cry with me. Will 10 roles of tissue be enough ?

Yes, I cried at a trailer.
What am I going to do at the movie ?
Rolling on the floor laughing ?
